HAGEL CIR., 9600 block, May 27. A man in a truck asked an 11-year-old girl walking through a parking lot whether he could touch her chest if he gave her money. The girl ran to a neighbor, who called police. The man left before police arrived.

BRANDON AVE., 6400 block, 3:30 p.m. May 28. Two men, one with a gun, robbed a clerk in a store of cash from his wallet and a cash register.

ASSAULTS

RICHMOND HWY., 8400 block, 7:45 p.m. May 31. Two males approached two male pedestrians outside a restaurant and asked them for beer. When the pedestrians refused to buy them beer, the males left and returned with machetes and attacked them. One pedestrian was treated at a hospital for an injury to a shoulder and a hand. The other pedestrian reportedly was not injured. A 24-year-old Alexandria area man was charged with malicious wounding.

ROBBERIES

FAIRCHILD DR., 7100 block, 9:15 p.m. June 2. Two male juveniles demanded cash from a man they had knocked off a bicycle. The man had been struck with a baseball bat. The assailants fled when he said he had no cash. The victim reportedly received minor injuries.

SCOUT DR., 10100 block, 12:30 p.m. May 26. A person looked into a basement window of a residence. The person was gone when police arrived.

ASSAULTS

MAIN ST., 9600 block, 8:35 p.m. May 30. The driver of a tour bus stopped in front of a business for passengers. He couldn't leave because a car had parked in front of him, so he flashed his headlights in an attempt to prompt the driver to move. The driver got out and threw a can of soda at the front window of the bus, cracking it, then drove away.

ARLINGTON BLVD., 9500 block, 3 to 3:30 p.m. June 1. A DVD player was stolen from a store.

CAMPBELL DR., 3100 block, 5:54 a.m. May 27. Several items were stolen from a camera store.

COURTNEY DR., 10400 block, May 30 to May 31. A U.S. flag and a U.S. Marine Corps flag in front of a residence were stolen.

DALE DR., 10200 block, 2:34 a.m. May 29. A homeowner awoke and found a person in the house. The intruder fled when the homeowner spoke.

OLD LEE HWY., 3200 block, 1:43 p.m. May 28. An employee stopped a male attempting to leave a store with five garbage disposal units. The male fled without the merchandise.

ARLINGTON BLVD., 9500 block, 10:11 a.m. May 26. Graffiti was spray-painted on a fence near a playground area at an apartment complex.

ARLINGTON BLVD., 9500 block, 9:51 a.m. May 26. Graffiti was spray-painted on a retaining wall.

LORD CULPEPPER LANE, 4100 block, 1 a.m. May 31. A homeowner heard a doorbell ring and then a noise outside his residence. An investigation revealed that two home air conditioning units were turned over and a walkway light was broken.

JACKSON ST., 800 block, 10:28 p.m. May 26. A man pushed a person to the ground. The victim received a head cut. A 52-year-old Herndon man was charged with assault.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 7:55 p.m. May 24. Two males shoplifted at a business. A 19-year-old Reston man was charged with shoplifting. A 15-year-old Sterling boy was released to a parent.

FLORIDA AVE., 500 block, 1:40 p.m. May 26. Cash was stolen from a purse, and money under a mattress was also taken.

FLORIDA AVE., 500 block, 6:23 p.m. May 26. Casing around a steering wheel of a vehicle was broken, and three wires were cut.

MAGNOLIA CT., 400 block, 6:31 p.m. May 25. Graffiti was spray-painted on the side of a shed.

INDECENT EXPOSURE

MAPLE AVE. E., 300 block, 11:55 a.m. May 29. A person observed a man urinating in a parking lot of a grocery store. Police arrived and charged a man with public drunkenness.

ASSAULTS

CEDAR LANE SE, 200 block, 2:50 a.m. May 30. Police observed three men fighting. One man ran when an officer approached. The other two men, ages 27 and 23, were charged with public drunkenness.

LOCUST ST. SW, 100 block, 7:22 p.m. May 30. A male fought with his brother. A male juvenile was charged with domestic assault and destruction of property.

ROBBERIES

COURTHOUSE RD. SW, 400 block, 6:15

p.m. May 27. Five males attacked a 16-year-old male pedestrian and robbed him of his wallet.

MAPLE AVE. SW, 200 block, 11:15 a.m. May 28. A male told a female pedestrian, 33, that he found a purse containing a lot of money and showed her the purse. He said he didn't want to open a bank account for the money because he didn't want to pay taxes on it. He offered to give the pedestrian $2,000 if she agreed to put up "good faith" money and open a joint account for his money at a bank. A female pretending to be a stranger then approached and urged the pedestrian to agree to the scheme. The pedestrian was driven to her bank, where she withdrew $3,300 as good faith money. They then went to another bank, where the woman was told to open the joint account while the couple held her money outside. When the victim entered the bank, the couple fled with her money.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CEDAR LANE, 200 block, 2 p.m. May 30. Two male juveniles were caught shoplifting merchandise in a pharmacy. Two 16-year-old boys were charged with shoplifting and underage possession of tobacco.

DOMINION RD. NE, 300 block, 7 p.m. May 31. Police observed three juveniles entering and leaving a business through an unlocked basement door after business hours. The case was under investigation.

PARK ST. SE, 1000 block, 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 2. Two credit cards were stolen from a purse in a car at an elementary school.

VANDALISM

DRUID HILL RD. NE, 500 block, 8 p.m. May 28. A mailbox at a residence was damaged.

MAPLE AVE. SW, 100 block, 8 to 11:40 a.m. June 2. A vehicle at a shopping center was scratched.
