Kitten Found in Vacant Home
SILVER SPRING, Sheffield Manor Ter., 3000 block, May 26. The manager of an apartment complex found a kitten in a vacant apartment with little food or water and called Animal Services to have it removed. An animal services officer posted a notice on the apartment door giving the owner 24 hours to call the shelter. The officer took the animal to the shelter, and the next day the owner picked up his kitten.
Dogs Left After Owner's Death
SANDY SPRING, Sandy Spring Rd., 100 block, May 24. Five dogs were left in a back yard of a residence after their owner died. An animal services officer found one dog running loose and four dogs chained up. They had clean water and were shaded from the sun. The officer left a notice asking a caretaker to contact the officer within 24 hours. There was no response; an officer who returned the next day found the dogs back in the house. They were under the care of the deceased owner's roommate.
Two Loose Dogs Reported
SILVER SPRING, Lester St., 1400 block, May 28. A neighbor spotted two dogs running loose in a neighborhood and called Animal Services. Animal services officers found a black German shepherd mix and a young black chow mix on the porch of a house and posted a notice on the door for a resident to contact the division. The next day the resident called and told an officer that the shepherd was his but that the chow mix had been hanging around with his dog for the past three days. He brought the chow to the shelter to be made available for adoption if unclaimed within six days.
Pets Available for Adoption
