Players of the Year


Three-time All-County and two time All-Met golfer was state runner-up (72) in the fall. She won the event in 2001 and 2002. Connelly, a former member of the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team, claimed the county championship for the third straight year. She plans to play for Ohio State in the fall of 2005.


Phillips was the top county boys' finisher at the state meet, tying for third with a 72. He was sixth in the county meet and fifth in the district. Will play for North Carolina Pembroke.

Coach of the Year


Under Pellicani, the Falcons had one of their most successful seasons as a team. The Falcons took a share of the county championship and then qualified for the state championship meet for the first time in school history by winning the District 5 crown. At the state meet, the Falcons finished fourth overall.

First Team

RYAN FAW, Spalding, Soph.: Faw had the best performance of any county athlete at the MIAA individual event, shooting a three-day 234 to finish ninth.

CHRISTIAN FREYMEYER, Severn, Jr.: Freymeyer was the No. 1 golfer on a Severn team that won the MIAA B Conference title this year. He finished 11th at the MIAA individual championship meet.

CHIP HARDIE, Broadneck, Jr.: County runner-up and the county's second-best finisher at the state championship, shooting a fifth-place 73.

JULIA HUH, Northeast, Sr.: Huh captured third at the state meet (74) and was also third in the county and second in the district. She will play for Mississippi State next year.

RYAN MORELAND, South River, Jr.: Moreland shot a 76 -- eight strokes better than the previous year -- to win the county championship and lead the Seahawks to a share of first place overall.

DAVID MURNANE, Severna Park, Sr.: Murnane captured second at the county meet, fourth at the district meet and sixth at the state meet. In his first match of the season, he tied a school record by shooting a 34, a mark held since 2002 by Ben Pellicani, his coach's son.

MORGAN REICH, Severna Park, Sr.: Reich was the county's top golfer in stroke average. She was third in the county, second in the district and fourth at the state meet (77). She set a new Severna Park school record when she shot a 33 at tough Crofton Country Club, her home course.

MITCH VAN ZANDT, Severna Park, Sr.: Van Zandt shot an 81 at the district meet to help the Falcons to the district title. He had a 79 at the state meet as Severna Park took fourth.
