Driving Hot Spots

Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.

1. Springfield Interchange:

Two or more lanes might be closed 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.

2. Burke Lake Road:

Road closed June 19 through Sept. 5 between Windward and Wilmington drives.

3. Chesapeake Bay Bridge:

Some lane closures in both directions Monday through Thursday.

4. Chain Bridge:

Right lane closed overnight from Virginia to the District.

5. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Two right lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday between River Road and Wisconsin Avenue.

6. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Georgia Avenue to Connecticut Avenue.

7. Capital Beltway (both loops):

Some lanes closed 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between the Interstate 270 spur and Fernwood Road.

8. Veirs Mill Road:

Lane closures and alternating traffic patterns in both directions 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Gridley Road and Ferrara Avenue.

9. Connecticut Avenue:

Lane closures and alternating traffic patterns 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Adams Drive and Brightview Street.

10. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday between Interstate 295 and Route 50.

11. Annapolis Road:

Two left lanes closed 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. between 65th Avenue and Riverdale Road.

12. Capital Beltway (outer loop):

Ramp to Route 1 south closed 10:30 p.m. Monday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

13. Capital Beltway (outer loop):

Ramp to Interstate 295 North/Route 210 South closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday.

Transit Update

Metro: SmarTrip fare boxes will be installed on all Metrobuses by August. A list of routes with the new fare boxes and the installation schedule are available on Metro's Web site at www.wmata.com.
