Cat Killed; Dogs' Owner Charged
HERNDON, Kings Ct., 1000 block, 6:40 p.m. May 29. A female pit bull and a female Labrador retriever followed an orange tabby cat in a residential neighborhood, then killed it when it stopped in front of its home, according to witnesses. The dogs then returned to their home. The dogs' owner, a 20-year-old Herndon woman, was charged with two counts of owning a dangerous dog and two counts of possessing an unrestricted dog.

Baby Ducks Rescued From Sewer
SAGER AVE., 10500 block, June 8. A man noticed a female mallard standing by a sewer opening in a parking lot. When the man looked into the opening, he saw a litter of ducklings about two feet below. An animal control officer removed the ducklings and released them in a nearby creek, where the mother took charge of the brood.
Sick Raccoon Found in Yard
OLD POST RD., 3600 block, June 7. A woman called animal control about a sick raccoon in her backyard bushes. The raccoon was euthanized, and lab tests indicated it did not have rabies. The animal might have had distemper, according to animal control.
