Reward Offered in Cat's Shooting

POOLESVILLE, Jerusalem Church Rd., 21000 block, June 1. A motorist found an injured cat and took it to a nearby veterinary hospital. A veterinarian took X-rays and found bullet fragments in the cat's chest and one of its legs. The cat, a domestic orange tabby, suffered two broken ribs and nerve damage to its leg, and it was released to the motorist. If the owner could not be located, the motorist was considering adopting it. A $1,000 reward has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever was responsible for injuring or abandoning the cat.

Jindo Bites Boy's Friend

SILVER SPRING, Waterbuck Way, 4000 block, June 3. A boy at a residence opened a door for a friend, and the boy's dog, a Jindo, ran out and bit the friend on the arm. Then the animal ran loose in the neighborhood, attempted to bite a neighbor and was accidentally hit by a car. The dog was not injured and ran back home. An animal services officer placed the dog under a 10-day quarantine.

The owners were warned about the aggressive nature of the dog, and obedience classes were recommended.

Rabid Raccoon Enters House

SILVER SPRING, Lovejoy St., 11000 block, June 6. A raccoon entered a residence through a chimney and confronted two dogs. The owner was able to confine the raccoon and called Animal Services to remove it from the basement. A humane society driver transported the raccoon to the shelter. The animal was euthanized, and the rabies test results were positive. The dogs were quarantined at the owner's home.
