RYAN LISSNER, Centennial, Fr.

Transformed the Eagles into the county's top team by winning 28 straight matches, including the county and Region III titles, before falling to Churchill's Jared Pinsky in the state final, 6-4, 6-4. Lissner dominated county competition, allowing just one opponent to win more than three games in an eight-game pro-set. Lissner is ranked No. 14 nationally among 14-and-under players by the United States Tennis Association.

Player of the Year

JULIA FACCHINA, Glenelg, Sr.

All-Met capped a 22-1 season by winning county and Region III championship and reaching the state final, where she lost to Churchill's Maggie McKeever, 7-5, 6-4.

Facchina did not lose a regular season match in four years, and eight of her nine losses as an underclassman were to teammate Marianne Baker in postseason tournaments. Her victory over Reservoir's Ally Spector at No. 1 singles propelled her team to a 3-2 win in the county's first title match. Glenelg finished the season 14-3.

Coach of the Year

JEAN VANDERPOOL, Centennial

In her fifth season, the All-Met coach of the year guided the Eagles (18-0) to the county's first title match, despite having just one senior on her team.

Centennial's lineup at times featured four freshmen and two sophomores, but Vanderpool's motivational talks played an integral role in helping her young team maintain its composure. "She's very positive to be around, and she's always showing us ways to help play better," Lissner said. "She makes playing tennis here a lot of fun."
