* Who: Central, Crossland, Douglass, Dunbar, Fairmont Heights, Friendly, Largo, Lee, National Christian, Old Mill, Riverdale Baptist, H.D. Woodson.

* Don't miss: National Christian standout Kevin Durant, a 6-foot-9 junior forward who has emerged as a top college prospect. Largo point guard Gerale Daniels, a senior, could be poised for a big season if he continues to improve. Douglass point guard Mike Lewis is only 5-7 but is very quick. Riverdale is led by forward Devin Sweetney and guard Jovon Borum.

The Rock Summer League

* Where: High Point.

* When: Monday-Thursday; five games per day beginning at 4:20.

* Playoffs: July 26-29.

* Who: Bishop McNamara, Blake, Bullis, Carroll, DeMatha, Eleanor Roosevelt, Georgetown Prep, Gonzaga, Good Counsel, High Point, Long Reach, Magruder, Mount St. Joseph, Northwestern, O'Connell, Oxon Hill, Paint Branch, Parkdale, Springbrook, St. John's, Walter Johnson, Wheaton.

* Don't miss: The Washington area's biggest and best league, where top public schools play private schools nightly. DeMatha is poised once again to be among the area's best teams next season, led by senior forward Mamadi Diane and junior guard Nigel Munson. The Stags play Eleanor Roosevelt, expected to be one of the county's best public school teams next season, on June 29, a game that also could match Munson against Roosevelt's Ray Brewer.

Steve Francis/We R One League

* Where: Gwynn Park.

* When: Monday-Thursday; four games per day beginning at 5:30.

* Playoffs: July 24-28.

* Who: Annapolis, Bishop McNamara, Bladensburg, Bowie, Calvert, Central, Chopticon, Crossland, Douglass, DuVal, Fairmont Heights, Forestville, Huntingtown, Lackey, Laurel, Northern, Patuxent, Paul VI Catholic, Southern, Southern Maryland Christian, Suitland, Surrattsville, Thomas Stone.

* Don't miss: Gwynn Park center Robert Diggs, a 6-8 senior who might be the county's top player next season and is receiving plenty of attention from college recruiters. Bishop McNamara point guard Tywon Lawson is considered one of the nation's top juniors. Fairmont Heights guard Wesley Sweet averaged 13.5 points last season and is expected to be the Hornets' leader next season, with help from center Nasir Austin. Among teams from out of the county, keep an eye on Thomas Stone forward Nate Flowers.


Nike Elite Summer League

* Where: Bishop McNamara.

* When: Mondays and Thursdays at 6 p.m., Saturdays at 9 a.m.

* Playoffs: June 28-July 2.

* Who: Anacostia, Carroll, C.H. Flowers, Good Counsel, Gwynn Park, Bishop McNamara, Montrose Christian, National Christian, O'Connell, Potomac, Theodore Roosevelt, Southern, St. John's, H.D. Woodson.

* Don't miss: Several championship teams from last season -- Gwynn Park (Maryland 3A), Potomac (Maryland 2A), Theodore Roosevelt (DCIAA and City Title), St. John's (WCAC). Among the league's top players are All-Mets Marissa Coleman (St. John's) and Katrina Wheeler (Roosevelt), Duke-bound Britany Mitch (St. John's), Lakia Hyson (Gwynn Park), Juantale Cook (Potomac) and Paulisha Kellum (McNamara).

Adidas Classic Annual Summer League

* Where: Riverdale Baptist.

* When: Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6; some Saturday mornings at 9.

* Playoffs: Aug. 2-6.

* Who: Arundel, Bowie, Elizabeth Seton, Friendly, Mount Hebron, Paint Branch, Riverdale Baptist, Eleanor Roosevelt, St. John's, Woodlawn.

* Don't miss: Some of the region's top guards. All-Met Alex McGuire led Arundel to the Maryland 4A title last season. St. John's is led by Coleman and Mitch. Riverdale Baptist has standout Yolanda Lavender. The best post player might be Roosevelt's Selena Nwude, a 6-5 rising junior who began to emerge last season.
