Driving Hot Spots
Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.
1. Springfield interchange:
Two or more lanes might be closed 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.
2. Burke Lake Road:
Road closed through Sept. 5 between Windward and Wilmington drives.
3. Chain Bridge:
Right lane closed overnight from Virginia to the District.
4. Capital Beltway (inner loop):
Two right lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily between River Road and Wisconsin Avenue.
5. Capital Beltway (inner loop):
Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Georgia Avenue to Connecticut Avenue.
6. Capital Beltway (both loops):
Some lanes closed 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between the Interstate 270 spur and Fernwood Road.
7. Veirs Mill Road:
Lane closures and alternating traffic patterns in both directions 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Gridley Road and Ferrara Avenue.
8. Connecticut Avenue:
Lane closures and alternating traffic patterns 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Adams Drive and Brightview Street.
9. North Washington Street:
Closing alternating northbound lanes 9:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday between Church and South Alfred streets in Alexandria.
10. Capital Beltway (outer loop):
Three left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday between Allentown Road and Route 4.
11. Interstate 295 South:
Right lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday between the D.C. line and the exit to the Beltway south.
12. Capital Beltway (both loops):
Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday and 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday from I-295 to Livingston Road.

Tip of the Week
Beginning Sept. 27, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. weekdays instead of 5:30 a.m. Stations will open at least 10 minutes before the first train is to arrive. The trains will start at Vienna/Fairfax-GMU, Huntington, Franconia-Springfield, Branch Avenue, Addison Road-Seat Pleasant, New Carrollton, Greenbelt, Glenmont and Shady Grove.
