Chipmunk Evicted From Home
COURTHOUSE DR., 10400 block, June 12. A man found a chipmunk running in his basement and chased it into a bathroom, then closed the door. An Animal Control officer captured it and released it outside. The chipmunk had entered through an open sliding glass door.
Man Traps 15 Barn Cats
WARWICK AVE., 10800 block, June 13. A man trapped 14 stray kittens and one adult cat at a relative's barn in Virginia and brought them to his Fairfax City home. They were taken to the city shelter and made available for adoption.
Opossum Family Uprooted
MEREDITH DR., 3800 block, June 13. Residents found a mother opossum and five babies underneath an old deck that they were removing from their back yard. The adult opossum ran away, and an Animal Control officer captured the babies and took them to a wildlife rehabilitator, who plans to release them when are old enough to survive on their own.
