Runaway Pit Bull's Owner Fined
ROCKVILLE, Elizabeth St., 4100 block, June 7. A brown pit bull escaped from a residential back yard and ran loose in a neighborhood. A neighbor called Montgomery County police, who confined and leashed the dog. An animal services officer posted a notice at the residence and transported the dog to the shelter. The next day, the owner paid $61 in impound and board fees and claimed the dog; he was given a warning about leaving his dog outside unattended.
Raccoon Euthanized After Injury
BETHESDA, Maple Ave., 4500 block, June 9. A resident called the Montgomery County Humane Society about a raccoon caught in a fence. A humane society driver released the animal and transported it to the shelter. A technician examined the raccoon and found that its leg was severely injured. The raccoon had to be euthanized.
Injured Rooster Found, Treated
SILVER SPRING, Dennis Ave., 1100 block, June 9. A resident found an injured rooster in her back yard, placed it in a box and called the humane society. A driver examined the rooster and placed it in a cage, where the bird collapsed. The driver took the rooster to a nearby veterinary clinic to be treated for dehydration and cuts. The rooster was to be held for six days, after which it could be placed for adoption.
