Python Invades Deck

PALMER PARK, Muncy Rd., 7700 block, June 12. A resident found a 12- to 14-foot snake on her deck and called Animal Management. She was advised not to touch it, but to monitor it until an officer could arrive. An animal control officer took the python to the animal shelter. It had mouth rot and lice. An animal rescue group would not take the snake; it was euthanized.

Beagle Found With Collar, Leash

BOWIE, Philmont Lane, 16000 block, June 11. A resident captured a neutered, 1-year-old beagle; it was wearing a blue collar and leash. It was taken to the shelter.

Pit Bulls Removed From Yard

RIVERDALE, 59th Ave., 5600 block, June 11. An animal control officer rescued a 1-year-old, brindle and white male mixed pit bull and a 1-year-old, black and white female mixed pit bull that were tied to a tree in a residential front yard. They had no food or water and were wound around the tree by their tethers. A resident who reported the incident said that the dogs were tied there daily. The dogs were taken to the shelter. The case was continuing.

Tied Shepherd Rescued

FORT WASHINGTON, Billington Ct., 7800 block, June 12. An animal control officer rescued a male mixed shepherd puppy, approximately 8 months old, that was tied to a tree in a back yard. It was made available for adoption at shelter.

Puppy Found Dragging Chain

OXON HILL, Birchwood Ct., 5800 block, June 13. A resident saw a male mixed golden retriever puppy dragging a chain, fixed the dog to a fence and called Animal Management. It was taken to the shelter.

Abandoned Cat Up for Adoption

UPPER MARLBORO, 17100 block, June 15. An abandoned male neutered cat, approximately 4 years old, was picked up and taken to the animal shelter to be made available for adoption.

Stray Puppy Impounded

LANDOVER, Dodge Park Rd., 3400 block, June 12. A puppy was reported to be running loose in an apartment complex. An animal control officer took the black and tan, mixed-breed male shepherd to the animal shelter.

Stray Dog's Owner Deceased

SUITLAND, Lakewood St., 2300 block, June 13. A resident captured a small brown dog and called Animal Management. The dog's tag was traced to a recently deceased owner. The neutered male, a 10-year-old, tan and gray highland terrier-Pekingese mix, was taken to the shelter, then to an animal rescue group.
