The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has opened a meeting center in Franconia called the Mount Vernon Virginia Stake Center, which will serve thousands of church members and be a home base for conferences, cultural events and other activities.

Ekoji Buddhist Temple will hold its annual Obon festival from 5:30 to 9 p.m. July 10.
