All-American Awards

Ten players on Anne Arundel Community College's nationally ranked lacrosse and softball teams have made all-American teams and four were named academic all-Americans. In addition, 16 AACC athletes were were named to all-Region XX and/or all-Maryland JUCO conference teams. Two AACC teams and three golfers also earned trips to play for National Junior College Athletic Association national championships.

Women's Lacrosse

Coached by Jim Griffiths, the women's lacrosse team finished second in the nation this year. The team lost only once, 11-9, in the national finals to Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville.

Women's Lacrosse Individual Honors

All-American first team: Jenny Deans of Annapolis, Kim Evans of Glen Burnie, Jean Gappert of Arnold.

Academic All-American: Deans, Lindsay Billups of Pasadena, Jen Marshall of Glen Burnie, Shannon Nolan of Shady Side.

All-Region XX and all-Maryland JUCO first teams: Billups, Deans, Evans, Gappert, Kristen Kibler of Annapolis and Marshall.

Region XX player of the year: Deans.

Men's Lacrosse Individual Honors

All-American first team: William Korvin of Severn.

All-American second team: Luis Gonzalez of Crofton, Derek Superville of Columbia.

Region XX all-tournament team: Korvin, Max Zarchin of Annapolis.


Coach Don Bishoff saw his defending women's national champion team finish fourth in the national playoffs with eight freshmen and five sophomores in the lineup.

Softball Individual Honors

All-American second team: Freshman pitcher Kristi Forrester of Odenton, sophomore first baseman Stephanie Stoll of Glen Burnie.

National Fastpitch Coaches Association all-American first team: Sophomore centerfielder Holly Stratton of Severn.

National Fastpitch Coaches Association all-American second team: Sophomore catcher Jessica Griffith of Linthicum Heights.

Region XX all-tournament team: Griffith.

All-Maryland JUCO Conference first team: Forrester, Stoll.

All-Maryland JUCO Conference second team: Griffith, Stratton, sophomore pitcher Denise Schultheis of Glen Burnie.


First-year golfers Dan Hering of Annapolis, Pat Kristi of Arnold and Mike Teske of Bowie qualified for national championship play in Chautauqua, N.Y. Coach Jerry Kiple's golfers finished 11-2 for the season.

Golf Individual Honors

Baseball Individual Honors

All-Maryland JUCO Conference: Sophomore Matt McCormick of Glen Burnie.
