Arrest in killing: A 42-year-old Northeast Washington man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of an unidentified man late Wednesday, D.C. police said yesterday. The victim, whose name was being withheld pending notification of family, was found fatally stabbed about 11:30 p.m. in the 800 block of 21st Street NE, police said. Clifton Poteat of that block was charged with second-degree murder.

Tshimbalanga Ntumba, of the 2000 block of 13th Street NW, pleaded guilty in March to second-degree sexual abuse and enticing a child -- both felonies. Ntumba was working Jan. 4 at St. Francis de Sales School at 2019 Rhode Island NE when he led a female student into a boy's restroom, where he assaulted her, prosecutors said.
Woman assaulted: Alexandria police are investigating the sexual assault at gunpoint of a 22-year-old woman who was attacked as she walked along a bike path yesterday afternoon.
Just before 2 p.m., two men approached the Alexandria woman on the Holmes Run bike path between North Pickett and North Latham streets, police said. One of the men brandished a gun. The men forced the woman off the path and into a bushy area, where they assaulted her. They drove away in a mid-1990s model, two-door black Honda with white rims. The victim, who did not know her attackers, was being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital, police said.
