Driving Hot Spots

Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.

1. Springfield Interchange:

Two or more lanes might be closed 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.

2. Burke Lake Road:

Road closed through Sept. 5 between Windward and Wilmington drives.

3. Chain Bridge:

Right lane closed overnight from Virginia to the District.

4. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Two right lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily between River Road and Wisconsin Avenue.

5. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Georgia Avenue to Connecticut Avenue.

6. Capital Beltway (both loops):

Some lanes closed 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between the Interstate 270 spur and Fernwood Road.

7. Route 1:

Two right southbound lanes closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday from Main Street to Route 198.

8. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Three left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday from Livingston Road to Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

9. Route 202:

Two left lanes closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Route 450 and Route 50.

10. Central Avenue:

Three left eastbound lanes closed 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily from Route 202 to Route 193.

11. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Route 50 to I-295.

12. Capital Beltway (inner loop):

Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday from I-295 to Livingston Road.

13. Capital Beltway (outer loop):

Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday from the Wilson Bridge to Bald Eagle Road.

Metro:

Tip of the Week

Beginning at 6 p.m. today, Metro will operate free shuttle buses every 15 minutes between Franconia-Springfield Station and Springfield Mall at Macy's. After the fireworks, Metro will operate free shuttle buses between L'Enfant Plaza Station and Pentagon Transit Center.
