Cross-Cultural Music

A mix of pan-Latin American sounds results when five artists from three geographical backgrounds come together as Solazo. The members of the group, who hail from Chile, Argentina and Cuba, blend flamenco, mambo, salsa, reggae, Latin folk and dance tunes. Using traditional instruments, including Andean panpipes, Solazo will perform at Mount Airy Mansion, 8714 Rosaryville Rd. in Upper Marlboro, at 7:30 p.m. Monday. After the show, audience members will have the opportunity to meet the musicians and taste Latin American food. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Photographic Pair

For more than half their lives, Stuart and Lea Ann Mawler have been taking pictures together. As teenagers, the College Park couple began photographing landscapes, other natural settings and wildlife. Now, when they look back on the thousands of photographs they have shot, they often cannot remember who took which picture. Some of their work is on display at the New Deal Cafe, at 113 Centerway in Greenbelt, through July 31. On Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., there will be an artists' reception where Stuart Mawler's folk band, Cliff Art, will perform. Free. 301-474-5642.
