THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CHESAPEAKE BEACH RD., 5:30 p.m. July 3. A book of scratch-off lottery tickets was stolen from a display case at the Peking Restaurant and Liquor store.

Huntingtown Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

ROUTE 2/4, 1:37 a.m. July 9. Someone entered Hudson's Sunoco through the roof. The alarm activated, and the person fled, leaving through the garage door.

SOLOMONS ISLAND RD., July 5. A generator was stolen from a side yard at a residence.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

CATALINA DR., 2:30 p.m. July 2. A mailbox was destroyed at a residence.

HIGHLAND TERRANCE, 4 p.m. July 6. A vehicle's tire was punctured.

SOLOMONS ISLAND RD., July 7. A front window was broken at A Perfect Tan tanning salon.

Solomons Area

THEFT/BREAK-INS

ALDERSGATE DR., 10 p.m. July 8. A 16-foot canoe was stolen from a residence.

St. Leonard Area

ASSAULTS

MACKALL RD., 2:16 a.m. July 5. A man, 29, assaulted another man with a machete. The victim received a four-inch cut across his neck. The man with the machete was charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Pomfret Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

ARTHURS CT., 8000 block, 9:05 a.m. July 14. Six boys, ages 14 to 16, attempted to break into a residence. The youths fled in two vans. One of the vehicles hit an embankment in the subdivision and became disabled. The four youths in that van fled on foot. The other van fled and later was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle. One of the suspects and the driver of the other vehicle were killed. Three of the youths -- ages 14, 16 and 16 -- were charged with first-degree murder, second-degree burglary and motor vehicle theft. A search continues for two of the suspects.

BENSVILLE RD., 6500 block, 3:13 a.m. July 9. Two suspects forced entry into Hunts Tavern, stole cigarettes and fled.

Waldorf Area

ASSAULTS

TANGLEWOOD DR., 2000 block, 3 p.m. July 9. A man, 22, stabbed another man, 21. He was charged with first- and second-degree assault.

QUEEN CT., 4200 block, 8:30 p.m. July 1. A man, 49, and a woman, 47, assaulted each other at a residence. They were charged with second-degree assault.

ROBBERIES

WESTERN PRKWY., 11000 block, 3:10 p.m. July 6. The WaWa was robbed by someone with a weapon.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BENSVILLE RD., 7400 block, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 7. Three shotguns and a muzzle-loading rifle were stolen from a residence.

BENSVILLE RD., 7800 block, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 7. Jewelry and coins were stolen from a residence.

BERRY RD., 10100 block, 9 p.m. July 7 to 5:20 a.m. July 8. Property was stolen from Mattawoman Middle School. The school was also damaged.

CRAIN HIGHWAY AND HOLLY TREE LANE, 6:30 p.m. June 27. A man, 23, was operating a vehicle with a stolen license plate. He was charged with theft less than $500, driving an uninsured vehicle and driving an unregistered vehicle.

MATTAWOMAN DR., 7:48 p.m. July 4. A man, 41, was operating a vehicle with a stolen license plate. He was charged with theft less than $500.

SPRUCE ST., 1000 block, 4 p.m. July 6. Three suspects forced entry into a residence. They fled when they discovered a girl, 13, was inside. No property was stolen.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

CRAIN HWY., 4600 block, 11:44 p.m. June 29. A man, 21, damaged a door inside Tailgates Sports Cafe. He was charged with malicious destruction of property.

QUILLBACK ST., 2:20 p.m. July 11. A swastika was painted on an entrance sign to Dorchester Greens subdivision.

VEHICLE THEFTS

CRAIN HIGHWAY AND SMALLWOOD DRIVE, 12:57 a.m. June 26. Five boys, ages 13 to 15, stole a vehicle. The driver, 14, refused to stop for a traffic stop. He proceeded through a red light and struck another vehicle. A man, 25, in the other vehicle received minor injuries. Two of the youths received serious injuries and were flown to Children's Hospital. They were charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft more than $500 and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

OLEN MATTINGLY RD., 8:02 p.m. July 10. A man, 28, assaulted a woman, 27, at a residence. He was charged with second-degree assault.

ALTON LANE, 6:30 to 10 p.m. July 12. A 1999 Honda Civic was stolen from the parking lot at Kmart.

Leonardtown Area

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

LEONARDTOWN, July 13. Three dozen eggs were thrown at a residence.

Lexington Park Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

ESSEX DR., 1:30-11:45 p.m. July 8. License plates were stolen from a vehicle parked at a residence.

LEXINGTON PARK, 1 p.m. July 8. A boy, 14, stole items from a residence. He was charged with theft less than $500.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

BRIDGETT LANE, 2-2:30 a.m. July 10. Two vehicles, parked at a residence, were damaged.

VEHICLE THEFTS

LEXINGTON PARK, July 13. A customer failed to return a rented vehicle to Avis Rent-a-Car.
