BLACKWALNUT CT., 1300 block, June 13 to June 27. A bicycle was stolen from a residence entered through an unlocked side door.

DEFENSE HWY., 100 block, 5 p.m. July 6 to 12:25 a.m. July 7. Computer equipment, a cash register, an all-terrain vehicle and cash were stolen from a business entered by breaking a side glass door.

GENERALS HWY., 1700 block, July 9 to July 11. Cash was stolen from a business. There was no sign of forced entry.

RITCHIE HWY., 5400 block, 1:52 p.m. July 13. A man in a bank handed a teller a note demanding money and took cash. The man, who was wearing a white T-shirt with a cartoon character on the back, then fled on foot.

ASSAULTS

DEFENSE HWY, 1400 block, 1:33 p.m. July 13. A male intruder was shot several times in a residence when a resident arrived home and confronted the alleged burglar. The 40-year-old intruder, whose last known residence was in Bowie, was taken to a hospital. No criminal charges were reported in connection with the incident.

ROUTE 3 N., 1000 block, 10:59 a.m. July 8. A gunman and two male accomplices robbed a fast-food restaurant of cash

GENERALS HWY., 1000 block, 11:51 p.m. July 12. A male indicated that he had a gun in his waistband, robbed a convenience store of cash and fled in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. An arrest warrant was issued for a 43-year-old Gambrills man.

MONITOR CT., 3400 block, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 2. Cash was stolen from a residence entered through an unlocked front door.

Edgewater Area

ASSAULTS

ANNE ARUNDEL MEDICAL CENTER, 11 p.m. to midnight July 7. A 23-year-old Bowie man and another man argued in a local bar, left in separate vehicles and met again in the Annapolis area. After a physical fight, the Bowie man was shot, and the other man fled in a Ford Ranger pickup. The Bowie man was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper left arm at a hospital.

HOMICIDES

MARYLAND HOUSE OF CORRECTIONS, JESSUP, July 12. Detectives from the Cold Case Squad charged a 34-year-old man in connection with three murders that occurred during the 1980s and 1990s in Anne Arundel County. The body of Boontem Andersen, 34, was discovered in her home Oct. 8, 1986 in the 1000 block Snow Hill Lane in Gambrills. She had been stabbed several times, strangled and sexually assaulted. On May 28, 1988, the body of Mary Elaine Shereika, 37, was discovered in a field just off Francis Station Road in Gambrills. She also had been stabbed, strangled and sexually assaulted. On Jan. 16, 1993, the body of 14-year-old Lisa Kathleen Haenel was found in a wooded area behind the Old Mill School complex in Glen Burnie. She had been reported missing the day before after she failed to show up for her ninth-grade classes. She had been stabbed several times and strangled. The male suspect is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for a 1994 murder conviction in Prince George's County. Updated DNA testing of the evidence in the three cases matched a DNA sample taken from the suspect, police said. The suspect lived near the victims at the time of their murders.

LAUREL FORT MEADE RD., 3500 block, 12:43 p.m. July 8. A robbery attempt at a packaging store was thwarted when two dogs that had been behind a counter scared away three men, one armed with a gun.

VICTORY WAY, 500 block, 12:30 p.m. July 10 to 8:30 a.m. July 11. Lawn equipment was stolen from a business entered by cutting a rear-door lock.

ASSAULTS

ARWELL CT., 1900 block, 11:12 p.m. July 10. A gunman approached a 21-year-old man, demanded property and shot him. The victim was treated for a foot wound at a hospital.
