County Literacy Council
Plans Annual Banquet
Leslie Johnson, the wife of Prince George's County Executive Jack B. Johnson, will speak at the annual banquet of the Literacy Council of Prince George's County, to be held July 31. The event recognizes the efforts of the council's adult learners and volunteer tutors. The evening will begin with a preview of the items from the evening's silent auction. Following the banquet, Johnson will speak about the importance of literacy and how it promotes independence for county residents. Live musical entertainment will be provided by Reverb.
The Literacy Council is a nonprofit organization that tutors adults in reading, writing and comprehension skills.
The public is invited to attend. The banquet begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Prince George's County Ballroom, 2411 Pinebrook Ave., Landover. The cost is $25. Reservations are required by Monday; call 301-699-9770.
