Man stabbed: A man was stabbed and severely wounded late last night in Northwest. Police said that an artery was slashed in the man's hand about 11:30 p.m. after a dispute in the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue.

Southeast shooting: Aman was shot in the back and wounded late last night in Southeast Washington, D.C. police said. They said the attack occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of Third Street. The man was taken to a hospital.


Mother indicted: The mother of a 12-year-old boy charged with threatening schoolmates and teachers with a rifle inside his Prince William County school in June has been indicted by a grand jury on a gun charge, officials said yesterday.

Naomi Lewis, 38, a cafeteria worker at Bull Run Middle School in Haymarket, is charged with possession of a firearm on school property. A trial is scheduled for Oct. 6.

Delegate's homes searched: FBI agents and Virginia State Police searched two homes and the Richmond business of a House of Delegates member yesterday.

No charges have been filed against Del. Fenton L. Bland Jr., a Democrat who represents Petersburg. His attorney, Joseph E. Preston, said agents seized records related to a petition Bland filed late last year in federal bankruptcy court.
