An item in the Aug. 5 Loudoun Extra gave a wrong date for the annual Loudoun County YMCA 10K and 20K fundraising races. The races take place in Leesburg tomorrow, not today. (Published 08/07/04).
YMCA 16TH ANNUAL RACES
The annual 10K and 20K fundraising races benefit children, families and individuals in Loudoun County through the YMCA's financial aid and scholarship program, Building Bridges. Starting at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, both races will start from Market Station on Harrison Street in downtown Leesburg. The 10K and 20K will diverge as the runners enter the W&OD trail, with the 20K runners heading west for a five kilometer out-and-back segment. The finish line for all runners is at Market Station.
For the young runners in the group, a free kids' fun run will be held after the start of the races. Kids will be able to participate in a quarter-mile run and have the opportunity to cross the 10K finish line and receive a medal. Registration fee $20, 10K; $25, 20K. 703-777-9622 or www.signmeupsports.com/24123.
