To Meet Parents Tonight

Karl Schindler, the new principal of Glenelg High School, will meet with parents at 7 tonight at the school, 14025 Burntwoods Rd., Glenelg. Dessert will be provided. Before joining Glenelg, Schindler was the assistant principal at Howard High School.

Office on Aging Wants

Vendors for 50+ Expo

Vendors are being sought by Howard County's Office on Aging for the annual 50+ Expo, which draws about 5,000 people annually who are interested in learning about growing older in Howard. This year's event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at Wilde Lake High School, 5460 Trumpeter Rd., Columbia.

Last year more than 125 vendors participated in Expo. The event also features a traditional health fair and an alternative care fair. Sponsor opportunities are also available. To participate, call 410-313-5957.

Church Drive Needs

Supplies for Students

Donations for Prepare for Success, a school supply drive sponsored by Christ Episcopal Church, needs backpacks, crayons, highlighters, zipper pouches for supplies, rulers, single-subject spiral notebooks, subject dividers, notebook paper, erasable pens, No. 2 pencils, erasers, glue sticks, blunt scissors, red pens, folders and two-inch binders.

The collection will benefit 120 students from low-income families at Wilde Lake Middle School, Murray Hill Middle School, Deep Run Elementary School and Cradlerock School.

Drop-off boxes are at Howard County libraries and government buildings, Columbia Association recreation facilities, Columbia village centers and the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel. Collection boxes are also at the Columbia Bank and Ascend One.

The Columbia Council is seeking applicants for three vacancies on the Environmental Matters Committee.
