MCDONOUGH HIGH SCHOOL: Coaches will hold a meeting for parents of players who are interested in participating in a fall sport at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium. Athletes and their parents will review the procedures and policies for athletic participation. To participate in a sports program, the athlete must complete the following forms: physical form, verification of residency, proof of insurance, emergency card and statement of acceptance of student-parent handbook. Forms may be obtained at the meeting or in the main office during business hours (from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays). The following sports begin practice Aug. 14: football, cheerleading, 8-10 a.m.; pompoms, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.; boys' soccer, 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.; girls' soccer, 4-6 p.m. The following sports begin practice Aug. 16: field hockey, 8-10 a.m. and noon-2 p.m.; golf, 3-5 p.m.; volleyball, 10 a.m.-noon and 3-5 p.m.; cross-country, time TBA.

NORTHERN HIGH SCHOOL: At 8 a.m. Aug. 11, the varsity and junior varsity football teams will be issued equipment in the school gym. The girls' soccer team will have a meeting for players and parents at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 in the school cafeteria. The following sports will begin practice Aug. 14: cross-country (school track, 8 a.m.); field hockey (school field, 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.); golf (Mellomar Golf Park, 11 a.m.); boys' soccer (school field, 8-10 a.m. and 6-8 p.m.); girls' soccer (school field, 9-11:30 a.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m.); volleyball (school gym, 9 a.m.). LA PLATA HIGH SCHOOL: Will host a fall sports preseason meeting for students and parents at 7 p.m. next Thursday in the auditorium. Students trying out for a fall sport and their parents should attend the meeting. Topics will include eligibility clearance procedures. Fall sports practices and tryouts begin Aug. 14. A current physical must be on file, and students must be cleared by the athletic director before they begin tryouts.

WESTLAKE HIGH SCHOOL: Coaches will hold a meeting for parents of players who are interested in participating in a fall sport at 7 p.m. next Thursday in the school gymnasium. Students must have a physical and submit participation forms to Coach Zaccarelli by Aug. 13. Practices will begin for the following sports at 8 a.m. Aug. 14 at the school: football, cheerleading, field hockey, volleyball, cross-country and girls' soccer.
