Leesburg Christian School said it has hired Keith M. Williams as school administrator.
Williams was head resident of international boarding students and taught English as a Second Language at Houghton Academy in New York. He has also worked as administrator of Westover Christian School in Danville and was a missionary in Guam.
Beth Chaverim Reform Congregation has hired Bill Berkson as its education director. Berkson has written several books, including the upcoming "Sayings of the Sages: The Heart of Judaism," and a teen-parent curriculum kit, "Becoming a Mentsh."
Berkson was education director for the Karp Family School of Greenbelt. He also serves as executive director for the Jewish Institute for Youth and Family and has taught at the London School of Economics, Brandeis University, Hofstra University and Boston University.
Beth Chaverim's Religious School provides instruction in Judaism and Hebrew to students in preschool through eighth grade. Confirmation and adult education programs are also available. The congregation's school year begins Sept. 12. 703-391-8669 or www.bethchaverim.org.
Eleni Kelakos, a singer, songwriter, actress and motivational speaker, will lead the "Tallest Poppy Workshop" Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Loudoun. The workshop is based on a song by Kelakos of the same name in which Petal, a spunky little poppy, defies the law of Poppy Land by growing past the Limit Sign and taller than other poppies in the field. In so doing, Petal inspires other little Poppies to reach inside, honor their uniqueness and fulfill their potential. The workshop will run from noon to 2 p.m., after 10 a.m. services and a light brunch. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 per family to cover the cost of materials.
