Northern Virginia Senior Olympics needs volunteers of any age to help with indoor and outdoor events Sept. 18-30 in Alexandria, Annandale, Arlington, Dumfries, Falls Church, Franconia and Sterling. For more information, call Lisa Herr at 703-670-7112, Ext 225.

Haven of Northern Virginia needs volunteers to provide emotional support to the bereaved, the seriously ill and the dying and their family and friends. Volunteers must be available weekdays and be able to commit to a minimum of 2 1/2 hours a week for phone duty for at least a year. Training will be offered in September. The Washington Area Bicyclist Association needs volunteers to help with tour marshaling, the kid's bike rodeo, rider registration and more at its 12- and 32-mile Giant Food BikeDC ride in September. For more information, call 202-628-2500.

The Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry needs volunteers for its Pals Mentoring Program for children affected/infected by HIV or AIDS. Training and support is provided.
