Surrender in killing: A 26-year-old Maryland man surrendered to D.C. police yesterday and was charged with second-degree murder in the killing of a man in Georgetown during a fight last weekend.
Police said that Cory Magruder of the 4900 block of Edgewood Road in College Park turned himself in to homicide detectives about noon. He is accused of stabbing to death 32-year-old Keith Marcus Watson about 2:45 a.m. Aug. 6 in the 3200 block of M Street.
Suspects identified: Fairfax County police yesterday released the names of five alleged motorcycle gang members who were arrested Wednesday, saying that a sixth person was in custody and that more arrests were expected.
Police revealed Wednesday that a series of searches and arrests in eastern Virginia and Southern Maryland resulted from a two-year undercover investigation into attempts by the Hells Angels motorcycle gang to start a chapter in Virginia. Few specifics were released because the investigation is continuing, and several arrests that were expected to occur Wednesday did not, police said.
The following have been charged in the case, Sgt. Richard Perez said: Percy T. Barfield III, 47, of Petersburg, charged with gang participation; Gary Alves, 46, of Sterling, charged with assault and two weapons counts; Thorsten Hisam, 38, of Ashburn, charged with illegal possession of a firearm; William G. Radford, 28, of Owings, Md., charged with gang participation; and William H. Cranston, 52, of Huntingtown, Md., charged with gang participation.
