Middleburg Bank has hired Chuck Wilson as executive vice president to work with the bank as well as with Middleburg Financial Corp. to provide strategic direction and management for retail banking and marketing.
Wilson was the owner of Banking Industry Group Inc. He has more than 20 years of experience in the community banking and financial services industry.
Bank Management Course
Kathleen Croson, vice president of retail banking at Middleburg Bank, and Mary Liz McCauley, assistant vice president and branch manager at the Purcellville branch, were among 67 bankers who graduated Aug. 6 from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. The three-year school is sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association and the university's McIntire School of Commerce.
The graduates completed a bank management course, which included three one-week resident sessions with extension projects between the first and second years and a senior project.
The Loudoun County Small Business Development Center will hold a "Start Your Business" seminar from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Beth Hain, a small-business specialist, will discuss how to start a small business. Terry Corle, a marketing and insurance specialist, will give 21 marketing tips and discuss what types of insurance are needed for small businesses.
Topics will include taxes and licensing, accounting and record keeping, business-plan development, sources of financing, marketing and insurance. An open discussion period will follow.
