Rabid Fox Bites Shepherd

CLIFTON AREA, Newman Rd., 6300 block, 11:15 a.m. Aug. 14. A woman reported that a sick fox bit her German shepherd. Animal control found the fox and euthanized it. It tested positive for rabies. The dog was quarantined at home.

Snake Helped Out of Tight Spot

LYNDHURST DR., 3700 block, Aug. 17. A woman reported that a large brown snake was stuck between a concrete step and a piece wooden of garden edging. An animal control officer used a metal hook to lift the snake, allowing it to back its way out. The nonpoisonous rat snake was then allowed to go free.

2 Dogs Attack Raccoon

ESTEL RD., 3800 block, 3 p.m. Aug. 12. A woman's two large dogs attacked a raccoon in her back yard. The raccoon was euthanized; it tested negative for rabies.

Sick Raccoons Reported

AUTUMN CT., 4000 block, Aug. 18. A woman reported a sick raccoon in her back yard near two pet cats. The raccoon was euthanized; it tested negative for rabies.

OLD POST RD., 3500 block, Aug. 8. A couple called animal control after noticing an apparently ill raccoon in the street in front of their residence. The raccoon was euthanized; it tested negative for rabies.
