The Breakdown

Although running back Morgan Green will command tons of attention, some should be paid to Lackey's very talented linebacking corps. Senior Kevin Glascock has led the Chargers in tackles the last two seasons, totaling 101 last year, including 24 for loss. Juniors Bryan Gibbons and Kyle McKeown also have a knack for making big plays.

Senior Devonte Williams, who led the team with five interceptions last year, returns to anchor the secondary.

The defensive line will also be a spot to watch. Senior Jeremy Hairston and junior J.B. Walton return as starters but also pull double duty on the offensive line, where they need to clear room for Green.

The Chargers have had a tight battle for the quarterback's job. Senior Jason Murray has shown more savvy, while junior Aaron Smith has a strong arm.

Going into his senior season, Hairston has started all 34 games since he began high school in 2001. He played the first 20 games at McDonough before transferring to Lackey in 2003.

"It's almost unheard of," Coach Scott Chadwick said. "You rarely see a guy play on varsity as a freshman."
