A Plan for Fort Washington
The National Park Service is making available copies of a proposal for repairs to Fort Washington. The "Project to Stabilize Fort Washington Environmental Assessment" can be viewed through Sept. 27 at the Fort Washington Park Visitor Center; Arlington County's Central and Aurora Hills libraries; and on the Web at www.nps.gov/fowa. Those wishing to obtain a printed copy can call the park at 301-763-4600.
The plan is intended to address problems that have contributed to the deterioration of Fort Washington, a large, 19th-century coastal fortification on the Maryland shore, 11 miles south of the District. Comments about the proposal can be mailed to: Superintendent, Fort Washington EA Team, 13551 Fort Washington Rd., Fort Washington, Md. 20744; e-mailed to William_Clark@nps.gov; or faxed to 301-763-1389. Comments must be postmarked no later than Sept. 27.
