ELLICOTT CITY POST-9/11 TALK, 10 a.m. Sept. 11, author Jonathan Dean, a former U.S. representative at the NATO-Warsaw Pact force-reduction negotiations and an adviser for the Union of Concerned Scientists, will discuss "Peace and Security in the Post-9/11 World," part of the "September Project," a program that helps facilitate discussions and public forums across the United States on the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, sponsored by the Howard County Library and the League of Women Voters of Howard County, the program will be held in the Banneker Room, George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Dr., Ellicott City. SENIORS POTLUCK PROGRAM, for ages 55 and older, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 17 and Nov. 12, bring a dish to share and play card games; drinks and desserts provided; lunch served, noon-1 p.m. both days, Kiwanis-Wallas Recreation Center, 10481 Frederick Rd., Ellicott City. SENIORS BALLET AND TAP CLASS, for ages 55 and older, 3-4 p.m. Fridays, Sept. 17-Nov. 19, learn how to perform basic ballet positions and tap steps, develop coordination, body awareness, balance, rhythm and more; ballet and tap shoes required, classes held at the Florence Bain Senior Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, Columbia. $30; preregistration required. 410-313-7279.

SENIORS BALTIMORE HARBOR TRIP, for ages 55 and older, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 20, local historian and guide Doc Charlton will lead participants on a tour featuring Federal Hill, the Living Classroom Foundation, Fells Point and Fort McHenry, includes a waterside lunch at Victor's Cafe, call for departure points in Howard County. $65; preregistration required. 410-313-7279.
