THEFTS/BREAK-INS

SOLOMONS ISLAND RD., 4:47 p.m. Aug. 23. Someone broke into a basement at a residence and damaged a painting canvas.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

THUNDERBIRD DR., 10:02 p.m. Aug. 25. A hole was knocked into a roof at a residence.

Owings Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

MARY ANN DR., 7:48 p.m. Aug. 29. A front license plate was stolen from a vehicle.

WEST MOUNT HARMONY RD., 5:43 p.m. Aug. 24. A chain saw was stolen from a driveway at a residence.

Prince Frederick Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

ADELINA RD., Aug. 24. A black leather coat, 50 DVDs and jewelry were stolen from a residence.

DARES WHARF RD., 11:22 a.m. Aug. 27. An outboard motor was stolen from a boat.

SIXES RD., 3:22 p.m. Aug. 26. A purse was stolen from an office.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

DRESSER AVE., 10:56 a.m. Aug. 23. A vehicle's front tire was slashed.

ROUTE 2/4, 7:35 p.m. Aug. 23. A rock was used to break a vehicle's right rear window. The ignition switch and steering column were also damaged.

DONCASTER PL., 2900 block, 4 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 21. Property was stolen from a residence.

VEHICLE THEFTS

CHINABERRY LANE, 10 block, 7:40 p.m. Aug. 29. A motorcycle was stolen in St. Mary's County. A man, 37, was charged with vehicle theft.

La Plata Area

VEHICLE THEFTS

COLE BOOK DR., 9 p.m. Aug. 22 to 4:15 a.m. Aug. 23. Someone attempted to steal a vehicle and its stereo.

Nanjemoy Area

GRAYTON LANE, 3200 block, 2 p.m. Aug. 25. Someone attempted to break into a residence through a rear window. A neighbor confronted the intruder, who then fled.

Pinefield Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

MATTAWOMAN DR., 12000 block, 10 p.m. Aug. 24 to 8 a.m. Aug. 25. Queen's Nails and First Elite Financial Services were forcibly entered. No property was reported stolen.

Waldorf Area

ASSAULTS

BRIARWOOD DR., 12:17 a.m. Aug. 26. Someone with a BB gun shot at cars, residences and a man leaving his residence. The man was not hit.

ROBBERIES

CRAIN HWY., 2100 block, 8:25 p.m. Aug. 29. Two armed men entered a room at the Waldorf Motel and demanded cash from a man, 43. He complied, and the robbers fled in a white, older-model Mercury Cougar.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

SMALLWOOD DR., 90 block, 2:50 to 7 a.m. Aug. 30. Taco Bell was forcibly entered, and money was taken.

RENNER RD., 3:30 p.m. Aug. 24. Jewelry, cash and credit cards were stolen from a residence.

VEHICLE THEFTS

BERRY RD., 1000 block, 8:45 p.m. Aug. 26. A Dodge Caravan was stolen from the parking lot of Mattawoman Middle School. A girl, 16, and a boy, 14, were charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft of more than $500 and destruction of property of more than $500. The boy also was charged with driving without a license.

White Plains Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

WILLETS CROSSING RD., 10000 block, between midnight Aug. 7 and 8 p.m. Aug. 22. A CD changer was stolen from a vehicle parked at a residence. An attempt to steal the stereo was unsuccessful.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

SOUTHWINDS DR., 4200 block, 9:15 p.m. Aug. 22 to 6:30 a.m. Aug. 23. A flagpole and a "Welcome" flag were stolen from Southwinds Senior Living Community. The pole was used to break a window on a vehicle in the parking lot.

ASSAULTS

NOLTE CT., 7:30 p.m. Aug. 30. A girl, 15, allegedly assaulted a man, 42, at a residence. She was charged with second-degree assault.

Callaway Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CALLAWAY CENTER, between 10 p.m. Aug. 12 and 9 a.m. Aug. 13. Someone attempted to forcibly enter Kim's Nails. The rear door was damaged.

Hollywood Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

HALF PRONE POINT RD., midnight May 28 to 12:18 p.m. Aug. 28. A Virginia license plate was stolen from a boat trailer at a residence.

FAIRLAND MARKET, Aug. 28. Two robbers were seen inside a business. An investigation found that they had been attempting to break open a safe. Nothing was reported missing.

Great Mills Area

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

ROUTE 5, 12:01 to 1:30 a.m. Aug. 28. A 2004 Jeep Liberty was damaged at the Brass Rail.

Leonardtown Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

LAWRENCE AVE., 3:45 p.m. Aug. 30. A man, 18, allegedly broke into a room with a coin-operated washer and dryer in an apartment building and stole money.

MERCHANT'S LANE, 4:25 p.m. Aug. 29. A wallet, containing money, and other items were stolen from a woman's purse while she was shopping at Dollar General Store.

Lexington Park Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

LEXINGTON PARK, Aug. 23. Property was stolen from a vehicle at a residence. Entry was gained by breaking a window.

LEXINGTON PARK, Aug. 28. A washer and dryer were stolen from a porch.

LYNN DR., 12:45 a.m. Aug. 25. Two Dell laptop computers were stolen from a residence. A man, 25, was charged with theft of more than $500.

THREE NOTCH RD., 2:04 a.m. Burglary tools were found in a vehicle behind a muffler shop. Two men, 31 and 41, were charged with fourth-degree burglary.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

LEXINGTON PARK, 3:20 p.m. Aug. 23. Property was damaged at the Hilton Ridge community playground. A man, 23, was charged with malicious destruction of property.

Mechanicsville Area

ASSAULTS

COX DR., Aug. 25. A man allegedly pointed a shotgun at a woman and threatened to kill her. He allegedly hit her numerous times, bruising her chest, legs and back. The shotgun was fired into the air at the residence. The man was charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

GOLDEN BEACH RD., noon to 5:38 p.m. Aug. 17. An all-terrain vehicle was stolen from a shed at a residence.

Park Hall Area

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

POINT LOOKOUT RD., 3:50 p.m. Aug. 30. A handgun was stolen from a residence. A man, 23, was charged with first-degree burglary and theft of less than $500.
