Driving Hot Spots
Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.
1. Burke Lake Road:
Closed between Windward and Wilmington drives through today.
2. Interstate 270 West Spur:
Left lane closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday between the Capital Beltway and Westlake Terrace.
3. Capital Beltway (outer loop):
Right lane closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday between Georgia and Connecticut avenues.
4. East West Highway:
Right lane closed in each direction with a traffic signal 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday between Connecticut Avenue and Edgevale Street.
5. Piney Branch Road:
Right lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday between University Boulevard and New Hampshire Avenue.
6. Capital Beltway (outer loop):
Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday between Route 50 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
7. Capital Beltway (both loops):
Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday from Livingston Road to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
8. Capital Beltway (inner loop):
Two right lanes closed 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through 5 a.m. Wednesday between the Wilson Bridge and Route 1.
9. Capital Beltway (inner loop):
Ramp to Route 1 south closed 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday; traffic will be detoured to the Telegraph Road south ramp to turn around and take the Beltway outer loop to the Route 1 south exit.
10. Washington Street, Alexandria:
Alternating lane closures in both directions noon to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday and 9:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday between Church and South Alfred streets.
11. Springfield Interchange:
One lane of the Beltway's inner loop after the exit for northbound Interstate 395 will be closed for about 18 months. Other lane closures 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.
The Red Line between Union Station and Fort Totten will be closed through 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland-CUA stations will be closed, and free shuttles will run every five minutes between Union Station and Fort Totten with stops at Brookland-CUA and Rhode Island Avenue.
