BRYC WINTER REGISTRATION: Braddock Road Youth Club Basketball will hold walk-in registration for its winter basketball league on Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sept. 26 from 12-3 p.m. at West Springfield High's cafeteria. GIRLS' CLINICS: Arlington Matrix girls' basketball is sponsoring skills clinics for girls in grades 4-5, 6, 7 and 8. The dates of the clinics are Sept. 20, 21, 27 and 30. U-14 BOYS' TRYOUTS: The rising U-14 Sterling Samurai will compete in Division 2 of the NCSL this fall. The team still has an opening for a defender or sweeper. The team practices three times a week at the Potomac Lakes Sportsplex and the Algonkian Park. The coaching staff includes a head coach, a professional coach and trainer and an assistant coach. MIXED DOUBLES LEAGUE: The Herndon Parks and Recreation Department is seeking players for its Fall Mixed Doubles Tennis League. Registration deadline is Sept. 10, and play will begin on Sept. 16. There are several divisions, and the cost of the league is $35 per doubles team or $20 for individuals (partners will be sought but are not guaranteed). All teams will play an eight-match regular season plus playoffs. All matches will be played at Bready Park on Sunday evenings starting at 4:30 and Thursday evenings starting at 6:30.
