Professor at Authors Event

Moses T. Alexander Greene, an adjunct English professor at Prince George's Community College and author of "My Proposal: Nothing but a Gracechild," will appear at the authors' pavilion at the Congressional Black Caucus's 34th annual legislative conference from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Washington Convention Center. Greene, one of 40 black authors selected to appear, will sign copies of his book, which is about a Christian man in his 20s who realizes that his success is the result of God's grace.

College Trustees to Meet

Lawyer to Speak at School

Scholarship for 9th-Grader

Mark Taylor Jr. of Upper Marlboro has received a four-year "Next Generation" scholarship of $18,000 from the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth summer program. He is a ninth-grader at Riverdale Baptist School in Upper Marlboro.

$1,000 for PGCC Student

Michele Burton, a Greenbelt resident and Eleanor Roosevelt High School graduate, was awarded $1,000 from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. Students must perform at least 100 hours of community service in a year to be eligible. Burton, a sophomore at Prince George's Community College, organized a running club on the Largo campus and the "Campus Corps," a community service club. She also has helped educate teenagers about HIV and AIDS. Burton is a member of the college's Honors Academy and plans to complete her associate's degree in December.
