Fauquier has made the Virginia AA/A tournament each of the past three years, but the Falcons are in the midst of their biggest rebuilding season in a long time. Only defender Sarah LaPratt has more than two years of varsity experience.

Still, as usual, the Falcons have talent. Midfielder Kate Evans is a Division I recruit, and she is joined by All-Extra goalie Rachel Letteri. Two Falcons, Alyssa Jones and Jess Butler, have moved to the backfield to shore up the defense. Coach Linda Lee expects the offense to improve throughout the season and help the Falcons be a state contender once again.

Liberty struggled much of last year, but the Eagles have gotten off on the right foot this season with a win over Osbourn Park last week. Leading the squad is junior Maggie Wintersteen, an honorable mention All-Extra selection at forward who was also second-team all-Jefferson District and second-team all-Region II.

Highland graduated two All-Extra players, Micki Doeller and Jenn Seiss, and have back only three seniors from a team that went 8-5-1 last year and advanced to the Delaney Athletic Conference final. McClain Bell is back after being one of the Hawks' top offensive players last season.

Foxcroft held its own last year in the elite Independent School League. Defender Jessi Coil was an All-Extra last season and was first-team all-ISL the past two seasons.
