Rabid Raccoon Dies on Deck
VIENNA AREA, Garrett St., 10000 block, 4:30 p.m. Sept. 3. A woman found a dying raccoon on her deck. When animal control arrived, the animal was dead. It tested positive for rabies.

Cat Falls From Vehicle in Carwash
UNIVERSITY DR., 3500 block, Aug. 27. An employee of a car dealership took a kitten to the city shelter after it fell from the underside of a vehicle in a carwash bay. The 8-week-old animal was unable to move its hind legs, but X-rays showed no broken bones. The kitten was being treated by a veterinarian and was to be made available for adoption after recovery.
Dog Treated for Bladder Stone
CRESTAR CT., 4000 block, Sept. 1. Investigating a report, animal control found a bichon frise kept in the garage of a home because, its owners said, it was urinating in the house. The residents surrendered the 4-year-old dog to animal control. During an exam at the city shelter, blood was found in the animal's urine, and an X-ray showed a large bladder stone. A veterinarian removed it, and the dog was made available for adoption.
