Suspect surrenders: A 22-year-old Fort Washington man suspected of committing three armed home invasions surrendered yesterday to Prince George's County authorities, police said.

Tervel D. Rollins, whose last known address was on Brightwood Court in Fort Washington, was charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery and first-degree assault in a robbery Sept. 6 in the 8700 block of Oakdale Street. He was jailed last night in Upper Marlboro.

Police said Rollins is suspected of breaking into two other homes in the Fort Washington area and forcing the owners at gunpoint to drive to an ATM and withdraw money. Afterward, police said, the robber ordered the victims to drive home, and then he fled in their vehicles after taking items from the residences.

Prince George's County police yesterday identified a man found slain Wednesday in Forestville as Joseph Lagana, 21. Police said Lagana, of the 7300 block of Leona Street in Forestville, was riding in a vehicle in the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue when he was shot shortly after 1 a.m.

Bank robbery: Two armed robbers walked into a BB&T bank in Gainesville yesterday and forced employees and customers into the vault before fleeing without any money, Prince William County police said.

Shortly after arriving about 10:15 a.m. at the bank on Linton Hall Road, one robber pistol-whipped a 26-year-old employee in the face because he thought someone in the bank had pushed an alarm button, Detective Dennis Mangan said.

Then people were herded into the vault, Mangan said. The robbers, who were masked, were unable to get any money, but they left the customers and employees inside, police said. The employee struck in the face was treated on the scene.
