Loudoun Healthcare Wins

Loudoun Healthcare Inc. of Leesburg received the $5,000 Richard C. Jelinek Vision Award from QuadraMed Corp. The annual award, named for a pioneer of patient care delivery technology, recognizes hospitals for their innovative use of QuadraMed WinPFS, a software system used to track patient populations and allocate nursing resources. Loudoun Healthcare used the system to help produce a strategic plan to care for mass casualties from a natural disaster or terrorist incident.

New Name: Avitecture

Audiovisual-Washington Inc. of Sterling changed its name to Avitecture Inc. to draw on the brand recognition in its Avitecture services and products.

"Avitecture is a world-class name for a world-class company," said company president Sidney L. Lissner. "We've done thousands of projects in the United States. Now we're doing a multimillion-dollar Avitecture project for the new Yad Vashem Holocaust Historical Museum in Jerusalem."

The company, with 85 employees, designs, builds and supports audio-visual systems.

Small-Business Seminars

The Loudoun County Small Business Development Center will offer a seminar from 6-8:30 p.m. today called "Learn How to Create Your Own Free Sales Force." Participants will learn how to get others talking about them and referring business to them by defining their brand, identifying their best sources of potential business and developing meaningful communication approaches. On Monday, Beth Hain, a small-business specialist, will lead a seminar on the essential steps for starting a small business. Terry Coyle, a marketing and insurance specialist, will give 21 marketing tips and discuss what types of insurance are needed for small businesses.
