Snake Scores a Bucket

RIVERDALE, Eastpine Dr., 5900 block, Sept. 21. A recreation center director was holding a black snake under a bucket near a basketball court. An animal control officer picked up the healthy rat snake and returned it to the wild.

Terrier Found Under Tarp

UPPER MARLBORO, Thornberry Dr., 8400 block, Sept. 20. A resident who found a Jack Russell terrier huddled under a tarp in her yard posted fliers in the neighborhood about the dog. After getting no response, she called Animal Management. The 3-year-old, white and brown male, which was wearing a red collar but had no identification, was taken to the shelter to be held as a stray.

Stray Dogs Brought to Shelter

CLINTON, Manor Rd., 6100 block, Sept. 21. Animal Management was called about a stray puppy being held at a resident's house. An animal control officer took the black female mixed Labrador retriever to the shelter to be held as a stray.

RIVERDALE, Riverdale Rd., 5700 block, Sept. 21. An animal control officer picked up a stray dog from an animal hospital. The 4-year-old, spayed, fawn-colored female pug was wearing a pink flea collar but had no identification. It was being held as a stray.

FAIRMOUNT HEIGHTS, Lee Pl., 6400 block, Sept. 21. A resident called Animal Management about a stray dog on his front porch. An animal control officer picked up the 2-year-old, black and brown male Rottweiler, which had a collar but no identification, and took it to the shelter to be held as a stray.

Cats and Dogs Available

The Prince George's County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat adoptions from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bowie Petco, 15461 Excelsior Dr., and dog adoptions from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pet Valu, 11229 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring.
