Driving Hot Spots
Here is a selection of road advisories. Weather and equipment availability can affect timing.
1. Wisconsin Avenue NW:
Northbound traffic limited to one lane between K and M streets for six months. Southbound traffic will be detoured to 29th, 30th and 31st streets.
2. Capital Beltway (outer loop):
Lane closures 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday between Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Road.
3. East West Highway:
Right lane closed in each direction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between Connecticut Avenue and Edgevale Street.
4. Piney Branch Road:
Right lane closed in each direction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between University Boulevard and New Hampshire Avenue.
5. Georgia Avenue:
Left northbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at Veirs Mill Road.
6. Route 1:
Right northbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at Montgomery Road.
7. Capital Beltway (outer loop):
Left lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday between Route 50 and Good Luck Road.
8. Interstate 295 south:
Alternating lane closures 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday on the ramp to Route 210 south.
9. Route 210 north:
Alternating lane closures 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday on the ramp to I-295 north.
10. Beltway (both loops):
Two left lanes closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday from Route 210 to the Wilson Bridge.
11. Washington Street in Alexandria:
Alternating lane closures in both directions 9:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday through Friday between Church and South Alfred streets.
12. Springfield interchange:
Lane closures 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.
13. Old Keene Mill Road:
Road closed 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays for two to three weeks between Springfield Boulevard and Backlick Road. Traffic detoured.
Metro is building a six-level parking structure near White Flint Station. Passengers no longer will be able to walk through the Kiss and Ride area and should look instead for a new 500-foot pathway.
