The Fairfax County school system has scheduled three community meetings to help determine the attendance area for the south county high school under construction in the Lorton area.
After an attendance area is determined, a community meeting will be held to discuss possible names for the school, which will open in September.
The meeting schedule:
* 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hayfield Secondary School, 7630 Telegraph Rd., in the Alexandria section of the county. Residents attending this meeting will be asked to help establish the priorities that should be considered when drawing the boundaries. A preliminary survey will be distributed to determine if there is interest in adding an 11th grade class to the planned opening of grades 7 through 10 in 2005-06.
* 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at Hayfield. Residents attending this meeting will be asked to evaluate several attendance area plans created using input from the first meeting.
* 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Hayfield. Attendees will help fine-tune an attendance area plan that will be presented to the School Board as a recommendation in December.
Public hearings on the proposed attendance area plan will be held in January.
