Montgomery County's Board of Election seeks Spanish-speaking people to serve as election judges at polling places Nov. 2. Volunteers must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 and able to speak, read and write English. Training is provided, and volunteers will be compensated for training and working Election Day. Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants for the following vacancies:
The Agricultural Advisory Committee has four vacancies for farmers and three for at-large representatives. Three farmers and three other incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment. Farm representatives serve three-year terms, and non-farmers serve one-year terms without compensation.
The Cable Communications Advisory Committee has six vacancies. Four members are eligible to apply for reappointment, and one vacancy is for a member of the Maryland Municipal League. Members serve three-year terms without compensation.
The Commission on Common Ownership Communities has vacancies for two residents of self-managed or professionally managed common ownership communities, two professional representatives (lawyers, property managers or investment owners) and one real estate sales or developer representative. Three incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment. Members serve three-year terms without compensation.
The Rustic Roads Advisory Committee has two vacancies for owner-operators of commercial farmland who earn 50 percent or more of their income from farming. One farmer is eligible for reappointment. Members serve three-year terms without compensation.
The Sign Review Board has a vacancy for an architect. Members serve three-year terms without compensation.
The Solid Waste Advisory Committee has six vacancies for representatives from the solid waste industry, business users and the general public. Five incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment. Members serve three-year terms without compensation.
The Taxicab Services Advisory Committee has vacancies for an industry and management representative, a taxicab owner and operator, a taxicab non-owner and operator, and a general public representative. The taxicab owner and operator and public representative incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment. Members serve without compensation.
The Victim Services Advisory Board has vacancies for two professional representatives of the health, legal, medical, dental or nursing professions, four at-large vacancies and one partial term for a clergy representative. One professional and three at-large representatives are eligible to apply for reappointment. Members serve three-year terms without compensation.
