The Alexandria City Council is seeking applicants for the following vacancies on city boards, commissions and committees. The council will act on these vacancies at its October 26 meeting. Applicants must complete a Personal Data Record Form and return it to the Office of Citizen Assistance in City Hall by 5 p.m. Oct. 15. Applicants must live in Alexandria. Alexandria-Gyumri Sister City Committee, two citizen members. Time commitment: about three hours a month.

Alexandria Board of Architectural Review, Parker-Gray District, one citizen member. Time commitment: about five hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on Employment, one business representative from among recognized area businesses, including minority-owned and small business. Time commitment: about five hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on HIV/AIDS, one citizen-at-large, one member from and representing the Alexandria Chapter of the American Red Cross, one member from and representing the Whiteman-Walker Clinic and one member from and representing the Alexandria Youth Policy Commission. Time commitment: about three hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on Information Technology, a member representing an institution of higher education located in Northern Virginia. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Commission on Persons With Disabilities, one citizen member who has a disability. Time commitment: about eight hours a month.

Alexandria Environmental Policy Commission, a member from the field of environmental sciences such as environmental/sanitary engineering, ecology, geology, botany, hydrology or chemistry. Time commitment: about ten hours a month.

Health Systems Agency of Northern Virginia, a health care provider. Time commitment: about four hours a month.

Historic Alexandria Resources Commission, one representative from the Old Presbyterian Meeting House, one representative from Gadsby's Tavern Museum, one member-at-large and one representative from the George Washington Masonic Memorial. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Historical Restoration and Preservation Commission, one citizen member. Time commitment: about two hours a month.

Alexandria Social Services Advisory Board, one citizen member. Time commitment: about six hours a month.

Alexandria Waterfront Committee, one representative from the Alexandria Environmental Policy Commission. Time commitment: about three hours a month.
