Highlights: Columbia United won the Calverton Columbus Challenge tournament. Against the Stars, Sheridan Street, Evana Pino, Katie Cocozza, Micheala Hennessy, Reagan Cerney (2), Samantha Kay (2) and Leah Monroe (3) scored. Against X-Treme-Red, Hennessy and Cerney scored, and Sarah Schneider had an assist. Alexis Zadjura also played well.

Against the Tigers, Street and Kay scored, and Schneider played a top game. In the final against X-Treme-White, Kay scored twice, on assists from Hennessy and Schneider. Delaney Reiff, Cocozza, Jenna Bergquist and Serena Delgado led the defense.

Brian Dingle (5), Michael Gamble (2), Michael Glazer (2), Ben Jordon (2), Drew Vickers (2), Andy Brown, Timmy Freeman, Joe Kiely, Tyler Parker and Chris Vargas scored. Ryan Bogle, Ryan Evans, Andrew Martin, Kareem Najib and Avery Walker played strong defensively. Wesley Long and Chris Madden played well in goal.

Highlights: The Thunder Storm played in the River Soccer Club Tournament. Against the Cougars, Nicole Clark scored off a pass by Nina Decesare. Clark also scored on a breakaway. Meredith Nichols, Katelyn Rye and Jessica Torpey played outstanding defense throughout the tournament. Amy Scheel was strong in goal.

Highlights: The Maryland Red Dogs went undefeated to win the Sports at the Beach Columbus Day Classic in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Pitchers Scott Heydrick, Kory Britton, Zachary Stup and T.J. Pipik gave up only four runs for the tournament. Danny Caddigan, Brandon Estrain, Kyle Kuykendall, Zachary Scott, Jordan Thompson, Mark Piccirelli and Justin Razmic led the offense. Pipik and Britton each hit two home runs, and Britton was named the tournament MVP as the Red Dogs' record improved to 12-2 for the fall season.

Baseball Tryouts

The Savage 14-U MMTA travel baseball team will hold tryouts for the 2005 season at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at Savage Park, Field No. 5.
