Calvert Homestead is closing its doors permanently Saturday to make way for the Burnett-Calvert Hospice House to be constructed near its site. Owner Barbara Burnett has donated the land to Calvert Hospice and now needs to relinquish the merchandise housed in the Homestead barn in anticipation of construction of the hospice. Proceeds from the auction will benefit that project. Larry Forman of Chesapeake Marketplace will serve as auctioneer with Mom's in the Kitchen providing a food booth. 8 a.m., auction preview; 10 a.m., auction starts. The Greenwell Foundation presents a day-long horse competition Sunday. Horses and riders will jump a course designed by Samantha R. Allan for points in accuracy and speed. A tack sale throughout the day will offer previously owned harnesses, bridles and saddles. Refreshments will be available from Black Hawke Catering. Harlem Wizards at CSM
"Show" basketball returns to the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday with the Harlem Wizards taking on an all-star team that includes Southern Maryland players and coaches.
