CA Scholarships Available

Applications for the Spirit of Columbia Scholarship, sponsored by the Columbia Council, are available to high school seniors.

Up to six $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who live in Columbia or have a parent who works full time in Columbia, have a C average or above and have demonstrated a history of volunteer service in the Columbia community.

Applications are available at local high schools, Columbia's community centers and CA headquarters. The deadline is March 1. For more information, call 410-715-3161.

Montessori Discussion

Parents who are interested in developing a Montessori program in Howard County for elementary and middle school will hold a networking meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the East Columbia Branch Library, 6600 Cradlerock Way, Columbia.

St. John's Open House

St. John's Parish Day School will host an open house from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at the school, 9130 Frederick Rd., Ellicott City.

Forum on Public Schools

A moderator-led discussion will examine the roles of the public and the Howard County Board of Education in running the school system.

The event, sponsored by the Public School Accountability Political Action Committee, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Rd., Columbia.
