Flu Shot Clinics Scheduled
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health will hold two free flu shot clinics for county residents 65 and older, residents 13 to 64 who suffer from chronic medical conditions or have weakened immune systems, and pregnant women. Clinics will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Annapolis High School, 2700 Riva Rd., and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 6 at Old Mill High School, 600 Patriot Lane, Millersville.
The health department will also hold clinics for babies 6 to 23 months old and for children 2 to 12 who suffer from chronic illnesses or have weakened immune systems. Those clinics will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today and next Thursday at the Health Services Building, 3 Harry S. Truman Pkwy., Annapolis.

Luncheon for GOP Women
The Republican Women of Anne Arundel County will hold a luncheon at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Old South Country Club, 699 Marlboro Rd., Lothian. The luncheon will include a cash bar and gourmet coffee. Betty Jane Carroll, president of the Maryland Federation of Republican Women, will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $40, and reservations must be made by Wednesday. YWCA to Hold Raffle
The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County is selling raffle tickets to raise money for its domestic violence programs. Two hundred tickets will be sold for $100 each, and the winner will receive $10,000. The winning ticket will be announced during the YWCA's fundraiser, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight Nov. 5 at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, 500 Marina Club Rd., Stevensville. Salvation Army Assistance
The Salvation Army of Annapolis and Southern Anne Arundel County, 351 Hilltop Lane, Annapolis, will accept applications Nov. 9 and 10 from residents who need assistance during the holidays. Applicants must bring identification, proof of age, proof of income, a Social Security card and proof of expenses including rent receipts, a lease, and utility and other household bills. Applications without that information will not be accepted. Residents who receive assistance from other agencies are not eligible for holiday assistance from the Salvation Army. Rotary Club Book Sale
The Parole Rotary Club will hold its quarterly Books for International Goodwill book sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 at the club's warehouse, 3106 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. Hardback books cost $1; paperbacks are 50 cents. A grocery bag full of books costs $20.
The Rotary Club says it has sent more than 1.6 million books to developing countries and more than 5,000 books to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Proceeds from the sale will help the club pay for mailing books to troops in Iraq and to libraries in Kenya, Nigeria and the Philippines.
The Rotary Club is also seeking book donations. Donations can be made 24 hours a day at the Edgewater warehouse.

Trash Sites Closed Tuesday
The Department of Public Works Waste Management Services will close its Millersville Landfill and Resource Recovery Facility, Glen Burnie Convenience Center and Sudley Convenience Center on Tuesday, which is Election Day. Curbside collection of recycling, trash and yard waste will take place as scheduled. The department will reopen its recycling and trash facilities Wednesday. For more information, call 410-222-6100.
