Educational Toy Store
Curiosity Zone plans to open its first store in Loudoun County in January in the Broadlands Village Shopping Center in Ashburn. The 2,800-square-foot store will sell educational toys and offer classes, birthday parties, workshops and summer camps for children ages 1 to 12.
The Loudoun County Small Business Development Center will hold a seminar Tuesday on "Selecting the Best Business Entity: How to Make Your Business Work for You."
Keith Troxell, a tax lawyer specializing in business planning, tax planning and business succession, will discuss selecting a business entity and will review and compare the legal, tax and business aspects of the basic forms of business organization, including sole proprietorships, C or S corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies.
The seminar is suitable for new business owners as well as existing business owners who may want to restructure their form of business. 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Rust Library, 380 Old Waterford Rd. Susann Graham has been named director of the Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center in Fauquier County. Graham has been a CPA in public accounting and the private sector, working with small businesses, high-tech start-ups and enterprise groups.
The center is part of a national network and a statewide network hosted locally by Lord Fairfax Community College. It is funded by Fauquier County, the Town of Warrenton and the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce, and receives matching funds from the Small Business Administration.
The center is offering the following seminars for small-business owners:
* "Keeping the Books," from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, will teach the fundamentals of bookkeeping and recommend tools and resources to make the job easier.
* "Writing a Business Plan," from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 9, will explain what to include in a business plan and where to get the information.

Media Networking Event
The Loudoun-Western Fairfax chapter of the Association for Women in Communications will hold a networking event, "The Art of Cocktails and Conversation," from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gallery 222, 222 S. King St., Leesburg.
